Can I Mix bio Glitters with Water Based Gels?
Because of their biodegradability, bio glitters can not be pre mixed with water based gels or the glitter will start to brake down inside the container. You can still apply them to the face with a water base gel, you just can't have them pre mixed.
Is Polyester Glitter a real Environmental Problem?
There is not a lot of science really dedicated to the study of the effect of polyester glitter in our environment. Some studies were done on micro plastics, but glitter was never found while conducting those studies. More science needs to get done to establish if glitter is really a clear pollutant, but given the fact that we now have better options, it is not a bad idea to switch to friendlier products. Keep in mind that most articles written about bio glitters were done by people involved with the industry of bio glitters and not by unbiased sources. Still, the benefits of bio degradable glitters are valid and that is why we chose to offer them on our website.
Are all bio Glitters the Same?
No, some glitters sold as biodegradable explain that they only biodegrade under special conditions, inside decomposing chambers. That is clearly not an ideal solution since most glitter won't end inside such chambers. Others say that they bio degrade when in contact with fresh water, which doesn't make the glitter disappear but rather decompose into other substances. A third option is glitter that can be eaten by microorganisms in the water, which is the best kind since the microorganisms can use the glitter as food and the resulting waste product is natural and will not harm the environment.
