What are the product dimensions?

Rainbow Opal Blend of Plant Based Compostable Loose Chunky Glitter comes in a sealed paper bag that measure approximately, 4 and 3/8" X 6 and 3/8". There is 1 ounce of glitter in this bag

How to apply and remove Loose Chunky Glitter?

Amerikan Body Art Loose Chunky glitters can be applied on top of wet face paint or with a skin safe adhesive such as cosmetic glitter glue or gel. Products like Global Body Art Gunky Glitter Gel Base , Ybody Washable Glue or Ben Nye Glitter Glue are great to use with Amerikan Body Art Loose Chunky Glitter if you want the glitter to stay on all day. Apply the gel/glue to the skin, and then tap the glitter onto the tacky base with a brush, silicon applicator or spatula. You can make your own face paint glitter gel by mixing the glitter into the gel base and then applying it with a brush or silicon applicator to skin or hair.
If you would like the glitter effect to last even longer you can use a stronger body glue like Ybody Pink Glue. Apply the glue to the skin and let it dry, then apply the chunky glitter on top.
If you are looking for a temporary hold, you can use water to apply the polyester glitter to the skin using a disposable smoothie blender or eye shadow applicator. Just mist the foam applicator with water, dip the applicator into the glitter, and press the glitter onto the skin. You can apply the loose glitter to wet face paint as well. This cosmetic glitter can be loosened from the skin or hair with soap, and then rinsed away with water.

What is this product best for?

This chunky loose glitter is a blend of all the chunky sizes of Opal Plant Based glitters in the following colors Fire, Wind, and Earth! The three styles together makes for a very iridescent sparkle which looks great with all colors and designs!

How to store Plant Based Compostable Loose Chunky Glitter?

Both Plant Based Compostable and Biodegradable Loose Chunky Glitters are best stored in an air tight container to prevent any moisture or humidity which can cause clumping. When mixing the loose chunky glitter with an Aloe Vera gel base to crate your own glitter gels, they have been tested to have a shelf life of several months once mixed for fine glitter particles. However, the large glitter particles work best when mixed into the gel as you are ready to use to prevent extra clumping. Another option is to mix the glitters into a wax/oil based product to create a product similar to glitter creams as this hasn't been shown to negatively affect fine or large glitter particles.

What else should I know about Amerikan Body Art Plant Based Compostable Loose Chunky Glitter?

Please use caution when applying glitters to the face or when using on young children who may rub the glitter into their eyes. This is considered a special effects product, and not eye makeup. Information from Manufacturer: Plant-Based Compostable Glitter is a non-plastic glitter, made from plant-based cellulose, such as corn. But due to the manufacturing process (which is designed to create a more durable product), it only degrades in an industrial composting environment. Wastewater treatment facilities do an excellent job of filtering out microplastic, so we have no doubts that they also can filter out this type of glitter. The filtered waste from water treatment facilities is then essentially in an industrial composting environment which should degrade the plant-based glitters. Studies have shown that wastewater treatment facilities are NOT a significant source for microplastic being released into public waterways. Therefore, compostable glitters that are washed down a shower drain, in most cases, are not a concern for marine health.
While Plant-Based Compostable glitter is not an ideal care-free product, with regards to eco-friendliness, it does address some of the concerns and is a step in the right direction. It is made with renewable resources, can degrade in an appropriate environment, and has a shorter lifespan than traditional plastic. The cost, while still higher than traditional glitter, is much lower than the fully biodegradable glitters, and is therefore more accessible to artists. As they say….Pick your battles, and just do your best. Every little bit helps. This glitter is NOT recommended for use around the immediate eye area in order to prevent large glitter particles from entering the eye.
